The second Big Bang watch, featuring Ayrton Senna’s signature, was unveiled by Hublot, in Japan. The timepiece, named Big Bang Senna Foudroyante, follows the first Big Bang Ayrton Senna that was introduced during the F1 Grand Prix in Sao Paulo in 2007.

Hublot will donate part of the watch’s sales revenues to the Instituto Ayrton Senna, a non-profit organization, helping millions of children in Brazil. The Institute was established 14 years ago by Viviane Senna, the sister of the late motor-racing champion. Since then, 9.4 million children have benefited from the Institute’s programs in 25 Brazilian states. The Institute’s educational programs have been supported by over 85 million US dollars.

The Hublot Big Bang Senna Foudroyante was unveiled by Jean-Claude Biver in the presence of Viviane Senna and her son - Bruno Senna. Bruno, a gifted young motor-racer and the brand’s ambassador, won second place in the GP2 championship this season.

The introduction of the new Big Bang took place within a unique exhibition of photos of Ayrton Senna taken by Norio Koike, a talented Japanese photographer and the late driver’s close friend. The photos had never been published before.

Norio Koike and Ayrton Senna met in 1988, and very quickly became united by a sincere friendship. The photographer took photos of the champion at different times throwing the light at his private and public life. The pictures make one feel the sincerity and intimacy that existed between the friends. After Ayrton Senna’s death, Norio Koike gave the photos to the Institute.

The Hublot Big Bang Foudroyante Senna watch will be issued in a limited edition of 500 pieces. The same as the first edition of the watch, the new timepiece features the colors of Brazil.

You'll no doubt notice that the date window is placed opposite where it normally is. This is to help balance out the bulk of the crown and make the face and case design look "even." Still, I wonder if functionality suffers and the placement of the date window on the right side of the face is purposeful being the first out of your sleeve for easy reference. There is also a magnifier cyclops over the date Rolex Submariner style.

You'll notice that three dial colors are available. Rubber and steel straps are available.
